A Present Help in Time of Trouble

These are verses I find myself going back to again and again.
 Let me share them with you.  I hope you’ll share your favorites too.

I put my hope in Him

 “I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
And in his word I put my hope.
My soul waits for the Lord
More than the watchmen wait
for the morning” Psalm 130:5-6

  He acted in my behalf.

“Since ancient times no one
 Has heard,
No ear has perceived,
No eye has seen any God
 Besides You,
Who acts on behalf of those
 Who wait on Him” Isaiah 64:4

He lifted me up and gave me stability. I’m singing a new song now!

I waited patiently for the Lord;
He turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
Out of the mud and mire;
He set my feet on a rock
And gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
A hymn of praise for our God” Psalm 40:1-3

I have confidence in His goodness and His plan for my life.

“I am still confident in this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
Be strong and take heart
And wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:1

  1. I Peter 4:12-13 “Dear Friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the suffering of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.” Waiting for the revelation! Thankful he writes his encouragement to me. The above verses washed over me with peace. Thank you for sharing.

  2. BJ,
    I’m sorry to hear of your health problems and I hope the doctors will be able to find what will help you most. And it must hurt alot when you feel misunderstood or used by your husband. I wish I could give you a hug, but please consider this a hug from the Lord… He sees you and loves you so much!

    If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to contact your pastor and/or elders of your church for prayer and support. This is a time when you need your brothers and sisters in Christ to encourage you and lift you up and to help you, not only find the strength to go through your healing physically, but find the stength to forgive and heal emotionally. You are a dearly loved child of God. Please keep in touch and let us know how you’re doing and take good care. -R

  3. BJ Cannon says:

    another favorite verse, I will never leave nor forsake u.

  4. BJ Cannon says:

    been feeling overwhelmed of late…have a cyst on bladder, hurts to have sex, in the midst of dr. visits to determine what to do as this thing has roots. Hubby being sort of mean at times. I am 60 almost. Says we can go to anal and oral until I am able again. I will never do now at this age plus molested as a child. Still think God did not intend woman to be used like a doormat. I like the Lament. verse…there is nothing to fear, God is in control and can be trusted as sometimes I feel so fearful. Probably did not mean it but other day, he told me I was not much use to him if no sex, we have been married 40 yrs. I feel bitter.

  5. Lamentations 3:55-58
    I called on Your name, O Lord, out of the lowest pit You have heard my voice, “Do not hide Your ear from my prayer for relief, from my cry for help.” You drew near when I called on You; You said, “Do not fear!” O Lord, You took up my case; You redeemed my life.
    I love that when I am in the lowest pit, He still hears me and redeems me. When my fears feel like they are overcoming me, I am reminded that there is nothing to fear when God is given control and trusted.

  6. Those verses point us to a God that the world does not know. The gods of the world’s religions cannot make these promises. Thank you, God, You act on my behalf when I wait for You! I’ll wait on You forever!
    Romans 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not with Him also freely give us all things?
    v. 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
