Gayle Haggard Discusses Book on Oprah

Three years ago, Gayle Haggard learned of her husband Ted’s secret liaisons and drug use.  This week she explained why she stayed with him during an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show. Her book, Why I Stayed: The Choices I Made in My Darkest Hour was released this week. Gayle received a warmer welcome from Oprah than she did the last time she and Ted appeared in January of 2009.  At that time, the documentary  The Trials of Ted Haggard was debuting on HBO, and with the scandal still fresh, Oprah approached the interview with visible Continue Reading

SHEmergency: He’s having an affair.

You just found out your husband’s having an affair. What now?” 1. Make sure he knows that you know, and that you’re requiring him to take immediate action to terminate the relationship with the other party, and to work with you on repairing the damage that’s been done to your marriage. Everything was in place, so how could it all fall apart? No warning signs; no red flags.  Years into our marriage, we’d just had our first child when he broke the news, Continue Reading

What “The Women” Has To Say To Women

I’ll admit feeling a little protective when I heard about a remake of The Women, the 1939 classic which is still one of my favorite movies. It was released the same year as The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind, but Dorothy and Scarlett O’Hara had nothing on these ladies. Featuring the likes of Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford and Rosalind Russell, they’re a quick, catty and conniving bunch of man-grabbing, back-stabbing-with-a-smile friends who display everything great and monstrous about female bonding. Despite the title, it’s largely a movie Continue Reading
